challenge of aging

I did my post on "Will" it is important to make a will because you are deciding who should look after your affairs after you've died. You also decide who should benefit from the stuff that you leave behind. It is scary to think about dying but it is a good way to leave your family whatever you worked hard for.

A living will is a legal document that a person uses to make known his or her wishes regarding life prolonging medical treatments.

Environmental Health.

The video I watched that caught my attention and was eye opening, they show different problems that we have in our society. The video "garbage island" showed all the trash that is disposed in the ocean, scientist Charles Moore sailed there in his boat. It is deep in the Pacific Ocean, it takes a week to arrive to the disposal area. He talked to doctors in Hawaii and said that all that disposal is linked to kidney failure and early stages of diabetes. Plastic is being thrown away and the marine animals are eating this stuff, than humans are consuming this stuff and eating eat.

The garbage is about the size of Texas
80% of garbage comes from land.
Dispose of less plastic.
Dispose of waste that it doesn't last for years in the ocean

the immune system

The immune system is a structure in your body within organism that protects against diseases.
The article I read was "Health Rocks! ". The article talked about letting food be your medicine and medicine be your food. Eating fruits and vegetables helps prevent cancer and other illnesses. Citrus foods are a great way to help your immune system such as oranges grapefruits and lemons.  There was also cruciferous vegetables those include broccoli, cabbage, kale, brussels sprouts, and many other vegetables. All cruciferous vegetables can help protect your body from diseases of aging and cancer. Also Flax seeds are really good for the immune system they look like brown sesame seeds. They are full of Omega-3 fatty acids which are essential for good health. These little seeds are good for the cardiovascular system your blood vessels and heart. They also can help lower the bad fats in the body.

Reflection on "Bully" the movie

The movie we watched in class was a documentary of teenagers getting bullied in America. The documentary was really hard to watch its frustrating to me that kids aren't safe in our schools. There was several kids that cameramen  followed to school filming all the brutal things that other kids did to them.

Starting from waiting for the school bus to arrive to the end of school. The part that frustrated me the most was the faculty of these schools wouldn't do much to stop these bullies at school. the faculty started cracking down on bullies till a teenager had to take his life because he would get bullied on a daily basis. You can find this documentary on http://www.thebullyproject.com/ .

This movie made me feel angry upset and sympathetic for all the kids that get bullied at school. This movie had a huge effect on me because I work with kids and I see this happening a lot and I do my best to try and stop it from happening, but I didn't realize that it can lead to a child taking their life over getting bullied. Our school boards should have more counselors and more faculty going around talking to students to making sure they aren't getting bullied and their stay at school is a fun learning environment.

I feel that faculty should crack down on bullying and make the consequences for students that are bullying more extreme.

stress and psychological health

The three defense mechanisms I relate myself the most is Denial, Substitution, and Humor.

Denial- In my life I feel like I am in denial a lot for instance when I go out with friends. Most of them aren't single and I see them cheating on their girlfriends. I know that the right thing is to tell their girlfriends but I don't want to break a relationship up and don't want to lose a friend.

Substitution- I tend to use this defense mechanism a lot because I'm discouraged to meet the goals that are more important to me. The little goals In my head I think its going to be easier to complete/succeed.

Humor- I fall in this defense mechanism a lot because I am always laughing and looking for something to amuse me, but I need to know when its the time and place for humor.

Stress Soothers

Music is one of the ways I relieve stress, it helps me out because it distracts all the negative vibes away. Whatever emotion I am feeling that would distinguish what genre of music I choose to listen to that point in time.

Taking walks with my dog also is a good stress reliever for me. Its a good way for me to just get out and enjoy the breeze.
